Workshop on Jesuit Mission in Transition, Bengaluru

As part of the Jesuit Mission's ongoing efforts to re-imagine and restructure school education across South Asia, a workshop was held for all the heads of School Education in Karnataka Province on 24 November 2025 at Prerana Spirituality Centre in Bengaluru. Fr. John Ravi, SJ, Conference Secretary for School Education, who was the Resource Person at the workshop titled "Jesuit Mission in Transition: Re-imagining and Restructuring School Education across South Asia". He highlighted the current challenges, focused on Jesuit educational legacy and heritage, and envisioned future developments.
In the first session, the resource person helped the participants to examine the evolving landscape of education and society in South Asia. He made the participants identify the top threats and opportunities facing Jesuit schools in Karnataka, facilitating a collective mapping of issues and prospects.
In the second session, the focus shifted to assessing how Jesuit values and Ignatian Pedagogy remain relevant amid rapid educational changes. Through case study reflections, groups discussed guiding principles for addressing contemporary challenges, such as digital distractions and inclusivity, and shared practical adaptations.
The third session encouraged participants to envisage innovative, contextualised models for Jesuit education in the coming decade. Using design thinking exercises, groups developed prototypes of a Jesuit School in 2035, emphasising curriculum focus.
The final session centred on fostering collaboration. Participants devised concrete projects—such as student exchanges, eco-initiatives, and alumni mentoring—to strengthen networks among Jesuit schools, stakeholders, and partners.
