Laurels Galore: The Continuing Triumphs of St. Xavier’s Collegiate School, Kolkata

The students of St. Xavier’s Collegiate School performed well in their class 10 and 12 board examinations. The school felicitated the Support Staff on 30th April, 2025 on the occasion of May Day. We lost Mr. Rupesh Pamnani, our Primary Teacher for 27 years due to cardiac arrest on 3rd May, 2025. The school conducted a Memorial Service on 5th May, 2025. Our Junior Section conducted the Fancy Dress Competitions in the first week of May. The Inter-House Singing Competition was held in the month of May and June. A tribute to Rabindranath Tagore was paid through the rendition of his songs and drama in English, Bengali and Hindi on 9th May, 2025.

We had our Summer Vacation from 17th May to 15th June.  The Debate Club (X-Calibre) of our school conducted the X-MUN (Xavier Model United Nations) Conference from 13th to 15th June.   Fifteen schools participated in this conference. The Nature Club of the Primary Section conducted the Forest Week activities from 17th to 19th June on the theme –Save Forest, Save Earth. The Senior Section of our had the Inter-House Creative Writing Competitions in English, Bengali and Hindi on 17th and 18th June.

The Gonzaga House Day was celebrated on 20th June with great fervour. Apart from drawing lesson from the life-mission of St. Aloysius Gonzaga, the Junior School students and teachers donated animal food and vaccine to Animal People Alliance Kolkata (NGO) and the Senior School students and teachers donated Rs. 16,000/- to Navajiban –a home for the differently abled children run by MC Brothers. The LTS Conference on the theme –Strategizing Leadership for an Inclusive Globalization: Contemporary Youth as Cultural Ambassadors and Bridge Builders across Nation-States, was conducted on 26th June. Eight neighbouring schools participated in this conference. The Junior School observed the International Day of Yoga on 27th June in which the students of class 5 demonstrated five asanas and discussed their benefits during the session.

Twenty students, accompanied by Fr. Roshan Tirkey, SJ and Mr. Ellora Chowdhury, visited Xavier College, Melbourne from 23rd May to 2nd June for the Student Exchange Programme. Mr. Sudip Chatterjee escorted nine students of our school to National University of Singapore for a certificate course on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning from 1st to 7th June. For the first time, St. Xavier’s Collegiate School participated in Madrid Cup 2025 in Spain from 20th to 26th June where they played five matches against Junior Professional Clubs from all over the world. It was a great learning experience for our boys. They were coached and accompanied by Fr. Narendra Singh, SJ, Mr. Farino Torcato and Mr. Romario Topno.

The school conducted the Orientation for the parents of various classes on weekends to acclimatise them with the Jesuit way of education. Our students participated in several Inter-School Competitions and brought laurels to our school.
